Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles left the team's Week Two game vs. the Lions with a leg injury. Charles was chased out of bounds in the first quarter by the Detroit defense, and the running back was hit and ran into the first down marker. He had to be carted off the field.
Charles appeared to be in serious pain, though the team has yet to announce the severity of his injury.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported later Sunday afternoon Charles tore his ACL and is done for the 2011 season. Charles will have an MRI on Monday to confirm, Schefter said.
Thomas Jones, Dexter McCluster and LeRon McClain split carries in Charles' absence.
