The more things change, the more they stay the same for Titans OLB Gerald McRath. Reduced to a nickel role after losing out on a starting job to rookie Akeem Ayers and veteran Will Witherspoon in camp, McRath showed with his Week One performance that the Titans will have difficulty counting on him. In addition to whiffing on a key third-down tackle, McRath, 25, was responsible for a silly special-teams penalty and a number of blown assignments. The Titans are hopeful that veteran MLB Barrett Ruud and McRath can make impact plays in nickel situations, but McRath's start to the season is cause for concern. This is nothing new for McRath, of course. He lost his starting job for the first time last season after being suspended for the first four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Although it is early, we hear McRath needs to right the ship fast if he hopes to shed the "unreliable" label that has been placed on him.
