We hear the prospect of a long-term future in the desert is looking dim for OLT Levi Brown. The former first-rounder continued his knack for breaking down in pass protection in Arizona's season opener, yielding a pair of early sacks to Panthers DE Charles Johnson. With the Cardinals not having any better options at present, Brown appears safe this season. "But there is no doubt left tackle will be a major need addressed in the draft and free agency next offseason," said one team insider. "Levi's cap number goes sky-high in 2012, and I would be very surprised if he sticks around. He's a decent run blocker, but his pass blocking is just not what you'd expect from a player drafted fifth overall. His technique with both his hands and feet is suspect. You feel bad criticizing him because he's such a good guy." Word is the team could also consider moving ORT Brandon Keith to the left side. "Keith has the athletic ability to play there," the insider said.
