Patriots C Dan Koppen, who left Monday night's game with an ankle injury, is not expected to miss the rest of the season, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.

Breer tweeted that Koppen has a "small crack, bad sprain" in his left ankle. Minor surgery is likely for Koppen and a screw might be put in, but Breer is reporting that would keep Koppen out 6-10 weeks, as opposed to the entire 2011 season.

Koppen has started 120 games for the Patriots, including all 16 games in each of the last three seasons. OG Dan Connolly replaced Koppen on Monday night, and Brian Waters played right guard the rest of the game.

The way we see it

If Koppen is to miss 2-3 months, that is a better sign for New England than losing him for the rest of the season. If the Pats feel they need the extra roster spot and can find a good replacement, they might place Koppen on injured reserve, but Connolly played well last night. An addition to the interior O-line is still likely, as the team's top reserve, Ryan Wendell, has been out with an injury.
