Bears-Saints matchup of the day: Tuesday

Here's a look at a key matchup heading into Sunday's Week Two battle between the Bears and Saints.

Bears OTs J'Marcus Webb and Gabe Carimi vs. Saints' pressure off the edge

It wasn't always pretty, but the Bears' offensive line passed its first test this season and did so against a pretty good defensive line. Jay Cutler was sacked five times in the opener. Keep in mind, though, that two of those sacks were the fault of Cutler, not the O-line. The Bears were able to build up a big lead and stayed balanced on offense, which worked in the front five's favor.

Chicago's offensive tackles — J'Marcus Webb and Gabe Carimi — will face a very different style of defense, one that could be blitzing more often than not, in Week Two.

Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is going to send blitzers from every angle, but it's a safe bet he'll make testing the young bookends a big part of his game plan. Williams didn't hold back against QB Aaron Rodgers, who is one of the league's best at beating the blitz, and he certainly isn't going to get conservative against Cutler and Chicago's pass protectors.

New Orleans will be without one of its top defenders, DE Will Smith, who will be completing his two-game suspension, but Williams is going to have some looks designed to unsettle Webb, the left tackle, and Carimi, who mans the right side, in a hostile environment.

Webb was flagged for holding twice in the fourth quarter in Week One and has to cut down on the penalties. Cutler can help the O-line by hitting his hot reads and getting rid of the ball quickly.
