Vikings-Chargers prediction

Tough assignment for the Vikings, not only with the Week One West Coast road trip but also with a pretty good team on the field in the Chargers. The crowd won't be a factor in tame Qualcomm Stadium, but the Chargers will attack offensively from the get-go. The Vikings' defense will have to make a big play early because they are going to give up yards to that passing game.

Offensively, Adrian Peterson will have to earn his new contract right away. The Chargers won't let him gain a lot of yards after contact, and he has to be able to break one into the secondary against those safeties who are sure to play up.

In the end, the Chargers will have too much firepower and they will spoil the debut of Donovan McNabb, who will have limited success throwing the ball.

Prediction: Chargers 31, Vikings 17
Record: 0-0
