Falcons DT Corey Peters (knee) has been ruled out for Week One, and Peria Jerry will start in his place. It will be Jerry's first start since Week Two of his rookie season — he was a first-round pick in 2009 — and we hear he has a legitimate chance to take and keep the starting job. Both players are going to be heavily involved in the rotation at D-tackle when Peters, a third-round pick in '10, returns, but Jerry is held to a first-round standard, and the team wants to see him step up. Jerry injured his left knee in that '09 Week Two game and was placed on injured reserve. It didn't appear that he was completely comfortable when he returned in '10 and was used in the sub package. The Falcons were encouraged by Jerry's play this preseason, but he needs to become a more consistent presence. Peters has been steady, tough and physical on the interior.
