Kevin Burnett will be the Dolphins' new inside linebacker this season, replacing ILB Channing Crowder. Burnett, a seventh-year veteran who has played for the Cowboys and Chargers, brings an upgrade at the position in the form of his coverage and playmaking abilities. Burnett had six sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles last season in 16 games for San Diego. His skills should also allow for ILB Karlos Dansby to have more freedom to wreak havoc in opponents' backfields. Dansby had to play more in coverage last season than the team would have preferred, and Burnett should help Dansby get back to the Pro Bowl numbers he posted in Arizona. We hear that one concern, though, is the run defense. The middle of the Dolphins' defense might not be as stout against the run as it was last season because of Burnett replacing Crowder. Miami was seventh in the league against the run, and Crowder was considered one of the better run stoppers on the squad.
