Raiders rookie QB Terrelle Pryor has asked the NFLPA to appeal his five-game suspension, according to NFL Network and ESPN.

Pryor, who was selected in the supplemental draft on Aug. 22, was suspended for the first five games of his NFL career as a condition to allow him into the supplemental draft.

Pryor, who left Ohio State, had said he wouldn't appeal the penalty. Pryor's attorney, David Cornwell, notified the NFL that Pryor would appeal on Aug. 26. The NFLPA was notified on Aug. 31. On Friday, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told the NFLPA that they plan to move forward with the appeal.

Jim Tressel, Pryor's college coach, will join the Colts as a game-day consultant, but not until the seventh game, the team announced. Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league would have suspended Tressel had the Colts not taken action.

Pryor is the Raiders' third-string quarterback and does not count against the team's roster during his suspension, but he's also not allowed to practice with the team while serving his suspension.
