The Patriots have drafted a cornerback in each of the past three drafts, but it's waiver claim Antwaun Molden who impressed enough to make the 53-man roster and make 2009 second-rounder Darius Butler expendable. The Texans waived Molden, a fourth-year pro who has appeared in 32 career games. The way we hear it, the Patriots like Molden's size (6-1, 198), as they continue to get bigger at the CB position. In a division with big wideouts like Brandon Marshall, Stevie Johnson and Plaxico Burress, Bill Belichick has put an emphasis on size at the CB spot, and that was shown when the team drafted Ras-I Dowling (6-1, 198) in April.

Molden likely will start on special teams and is a reserve corner on the outside. But just because he showed enough to make the roster on a defense with some complicated schemes doesn't mean the Pats are done at the position. They reportedly have brought in multiple corners for workouts, including former Dolphin Will Allen. Molden played in one preseason game, and one daily team observer pointed to the workouts as insurance in case Molden isn't what the team was hoping for.
