The Eagles appear perfectly fine with a surplus of cornerbacks, re-signing Joselio Hanson to a two-year deal. Geoff Mosher of The News Journal first reported the move.

Philly released second-year CB Trevard Lindley.

Hanson was released over the weekend with $7.6 million left on the final three years of his old contract. Financial terms of his new deal have not been released.

Hanson joins a star-studded cornerback group that includes Nnamdi Asomugha, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Asante Samuel. Hanson is a seventh-year veteran who played in 15 games last season and recorded six passes defensed and one interception.

The way we see it

The move means that Lindley was not ready yet and the team wants experience at the fourth corner spot. Hanson has played a key role as the team's nickel back. He is strictly an inside player on defense and also a special-teams contributor. Since they likely got him for cheap, the re-signing makes sense.
