The Patriots continued making moves on Tuesday, claiming former Dolphins ILB A.J. Edds off waivers, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
The Dolphins cut Edds, a fourth-round pick in 2010, on Monday. Edds missed his entire rookie season with a torn ACL.
The Patriots cut CB Darius Butler.
The way we see it
Edds is primarily a cover linebacker who should help the team's third-down defense. He can run with tight ends and brings depth to the linebacker position, joining Gary Guyton and Dane Fletcher as backups. Undrafted rookie LB Jeff Tarpinian has been hurt, and could be a candidate for injured reserve with the addition of Edds.
