Former Patriots CB Darius Butler didn't remain on waivers for long, as he was claimed by the Panthers, according to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer.

"#PanthersNation I'm on my way!" Butler tweeted.

The Patriots cut Butler on Tuesday afternoon. He was a second-round pick in the 2009 draft and opened last season as a starting corner before losing his job to Kyle Arrington.

The Panthers lost CB Richard Marshall in free agency and are a bit thin at the position. Chris Gamble and Captain Munnerlyn are the projected starters.
