After a week of speculation, the Bears finally released RB Chester Taylor on Saturday morning.
The veteran back, who was signed by the team last season, thought he had been let go earlier in the week. It turned out that was incorrect, and Taylor played in Chicago's fourth preseason game on Thursday.
DT Marcus Harrison and TE Desmond Clark were also let go by the team on Saturday.
The other Bears cuts made on Saturday were WR Kris Adams, OG Ricky Henry, OT Levi Horn, RB Robert Hughes, DT Jordan Miller, TE Andre Smith, LB Patrick Trahan and S Anthony Walters. Rookie LB J.T. Thomas was placed on I.R. and second-year RB Harvey Unga was put on the Reserve/Left Team list.
The Bears began the process of trimming their roster on Friday by announcing that they have cut 14 players.
The team waived OG Johan Asiata, FB Eddie Williams, WRs Andy Fantuz and Onrea Jones and LB Chris Johnson.
The undrafted rookies cut included LBs Tressor Baptiste and Deron Minor, CBs Antareis Bryan and Ryan Jones, OT Josh Davis, P Spencer Lanning, DE Jake Laptad, C Alex Linnenkohl and WR Jimmy Young.
Asiata, a first-year pro, played in two games for the Bears last season. The Bears signed Fantuz, a former CFL wideout, before the lockout.
