The Patriots placed fifth-round OL Marcus Cannon on the reserve/non-football injury list on Wednesday.
The move was expected, as Cannon completed chemotherapy this summer for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He has not practiced with the Patriots.
Taking Cannon's roster spot will be CB Antwaun Molden, whom the Patriots claimed off waivers. ESPN Boston first reported the move.
Molden, a third-round pick in 2008, has played in 32 games with the Texans. Last season, he appeared in 14 games and made six tackles.
The way we see it
Cannon could end up being one of the top value picks of the 2011 draft, with the assumption that he will return to full health. The Patriots don't need him on the O-line anytime soon, and he had early-round grades before the diagnosis.
