The Falcons announced Thursday that Rich McKay has been promoted to president and CEO. He was previously the president of the team.

"This promotion is in recognition of Rich's many contributions to the Falcons and the NFL, as well as recognition of his professional accomplishments along the way," owner Arthur M. Blank said.

McKay joined the Falcons in 2003 after nine seasons as the GM of the Buccaneers. He is the chairman of the NFL's Competition Committee.
