The Jets have apparently determined the winners in their placekicking and punting competitions, based on the cuts they are expected to make on Tuesday.
According to Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger, the team will release P Chris Bryan and PK Nick Novak, leaving just one player remaining at each position on the roster. Nick Folk will handle the kicking duties and T.J. Conley is set to be the team's punter.
Rex Ryan confirmed the transactions on Tuesday afternoon. The team also cut WR Courtney Smith.
Folk was the team's kicker last season, though inconsistency was a major reason Novak was signed during the offseason to compete for the starting job. Conley was considered the underdog to Bryan when training camp began, but he has improved as the summer has gone along and had a good performance on Monday night in the team's third preseason game.
