The Falcons signed C Brett Romberg on Tuesday and waived five players, getting their roster to 80 players.

Romberg last played in 2009 with Atlanta, appearing in nine games. He has 18 career starts in seven seasons.

Atlanta waived WR Doug Beaumont, CB Kirk Belgrave, RB Philip Sylvester, LB LaMarcus Thompson and LB Youri Yenga, and it reached an injury settlement with WR Tim Buckley.

Romberg provides depth at center, as C Todd McClure is at risk of missing the season opener after undergoing minor surgery on his right knee.
