S Gerald Alexander has signed with the Dolphins, he announced on his Twitter page Sunday afternoon.
"Miami Dolphins!!!!!! LETS GO!" he wrote.
Alexander played in five games last season — three with the Jaguars and two with the Panthers. In '09, he played in 15 games with 10 starts for Jacksonville and had two interceptions.
Alexander started all 16 games in his rookie season in 2007 with the Lions.

The Dolphins have some depth in the secondary and there is a battle between Chris Clemons and Reshad Jones to start at free safety. Adding Alexander could just add to the competition. He may have to find a niche on special teams to make the final 53-man roster.
