The Giants, looking to restock their secondary with players following severe injuries to several key contributors, have signed veteran CB Brian Williams.
A member of the Falcons for the past two seasons, Williams also has spent time with Vikings and Jaguars since coming into the league in 2002. He played in all 16 games for Atlanta last season, starting one, and finished with 36 tackles. He did not record an interception in 2010, the first season of his career where he failed to do so.
The Giants lost starting CB Terrell Thomas and backup Brian Witherspoon to torn ACLs during the team's second preseason game Monday night. First-round pick Prince Amukamara broke his foot early in the preseason and likely will miss the early part of the season.
"Well, he's a veteran, he knows how to play," head coach Tom Coughlin said of Williams on Wednesday. "He's been a good, physical blitzer. And we're in need of someone that can learn some things real quick."
