Former Saints FB Heath Evans announced Wednesday he will retire after a 10-year NFL career.

Evans made the announcement on Twitter and said he accepted a mutli-year contract with NFL Network.

The Auburn grad entered the NFL with the Seahawks in 2001. He played in Seattle through 2004 and split the 2005 season with the Dolphins and Patriots. He played for the Pats through 2008 before joining the Saints and getting a Super Bowl ring following the '09 season.

Evans, a blocking fullback, played in all 16 games six times in his career, including last season. He retires with eight career touchdowns.

The digital edition of Pro Football Weekly's 2011 NFL preview magazine is now available in The PFW Store. This product was completed after the lockout ended and free-agent signings and player trades are reflected in the 32 team previews.
