The Bengals have acquired S Taylor Mays from the 49ers in exchange for an undisclosed draft choice.

Mays fell out of favor in San Francisco after the team selected him in the second round of the 2010 draft. He started five games during his rookie season with the Niners but was without a place in the secondary when the team acquired safeties Donte Whitner and Madieu Williams in free agency over the offseason.

The Bengals, who originally thought they had signed Whitner earlier in the offseason, add depth at safety with a young player who showed in college a knack for making big plays.
