Kyle Orton has been officially announced as the Broncos' starting quarterback for Week One. The team opens at home vs. the Raiders on "Monday Night Football" on Sept. 12.

The move, which was reported to the media Monday by head coach John Fox, comes as no surprise. Orton was the team's starter for the majority of the 2010 season and when the Broncos opted not to trade him following the lockout, he was widely expected to beat out Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn for the job once again.

Attention now turns to the backup job, as Quinn has passed Tebow as the team's No. 2 quarterback. Tebow started three games last season and was considered to be the heir apparent to Orton. Instead, Orton has retained the job and Quinn has thrived during the preseason, leaving the 2010 first-round pick at the bottom of the depth chart.
