That Colts first-round OLT Anthony Castonzo started slowly during training camp was not surprising. After all, he was given the task of quickly learning one of the more complex playbooks in the league without the benefit of an offseason. Moreover, a brief training-camp holdout and the absence of QB Peyton Manning, who still hasn't practiced since undergoing neck surgery in May, put him further behind the eight-ball. However, word is Castonzo is really starting to come on strong of late. According to a daily team observer, Castonzo is getting better in practice every day — both physically and mentally. A key figure in Castonzo's development has been Pro Bowl DE Dwight Freeney. We hear Freeney has taken Castonzo under his wing, advising the rookie on what other tackles have done to slow Freeney down. The results have been tangible, with Castonzo holding up much better against Freeney in one-on-one drills, and looking the part of an immediate starter.
