The Giants have re-signed S Deon Grant, giving the team more flexibility and depth in the secondary. The news was first reported by Mike Garafolo of the New Jersey Star-Ledger, and then confirmed by Giants head coach Tom Coughlin.
Grant, an 11-year veteran, played in all 16 games for the Giants last season, starting in eight of them. He was especially useful in the team's three-safety defense, teaming with Kenny Phillips and Antrel Rolle. In 2010, Grant finished with 72 tackles and three interceptions.
The move also gives the team more depth at the position, which is helpful given Phillips' history of injuries and the fact that sixth-round pick Tyler Sash struggled in the team's first preseason game defending tight ends.
