DE Osi Umenyiora is returning to the Giants, despite the fact he has not been able to negotiate a new contract.
The two-time Pro Bowler emailed the Associated Press on Sunday, saying he was planning on being at the team's practice on Monday and that he will play the entire season on his current deal.
"No deal has been reworked," Umenyiora wrote to the AP. "What has been offered has been unacceptable and shows they don't really respect the fact I sacrifice my health for the franchise. I will play under my current deal because I love and respect my coaches, my teammates, the fans, and myself. Not for those incentives."
Umenyiora is set to earn a total of $7.1 million over the next two seasons. He said the Giants offered to put new incentives in the contract, though he didn't specify what exactly those would be. Umenyiora would up rejecting the offer, saying the team promised him that they would completely rework his contract.
Last season, Umenyiora tied for the team lead with 11½ sacks and also added 10 forced fumbles.
