The Colts have cut QB Nate Davis after having him on the roster for less than a month.
Davis played in the team's preseason opener last Saturday vs. St. Louis, completing 3-of-7 throws for 36 yards. He was competing for a backup job to Peyton Manning, but apparently was too far behind Dan Orlovsky and Curtis Painter in the competition.
He was signed by Indianapolis in late July and was considered a fan favorite after playing his college ball locally at Ball State.
Davis, who was drafted by the 49ers in 2009, has never played in an NFL game.
