Three days after signing him to a one-year free-agent contract loaded with incentives, the Eagles placed WR Steve Smith on the physically-unable-to-perform list Saturday.
The former Giant had suffered a left knee injury Dec. 13 against Minnesota and underwent microfracture surgery eight days later, ending his season.
"I think I'm pretty close," Smith told NFL.com. "I think I can realistically be out there (the first month). It could be Week One. You never know."
Also on Saturday, the Eagles signed a pair of offensive tackles, Spencer Johnson (Utah State) and Joe Toledo (Washington). The team also waived/injury settlement defensive tackle Brandon Collier, released QB Jerrod Johnson and DT Charles Noonan and waived/injured DT Brandon Collier.
