Bears hope to avoid tinkering with O-line

The Bears chose Roberto Garza to take over for Olin Kreutz as the starting center and Garza will play wherever the Bears ask him to. He has started only one game at center in his 11-year NFL career, though, and is more comfortable at his previous position, right guard. It's possible that free-agent addition C Chris Spencer will get a chance to work with the first-team offense once he gets more comfortable with the line calls, and eventually he could be promoted, likely moving Garza back to right guard, where Lance Louis is taking snaps with the first team. That would give the Bears the option of having Chris Williams battle Louis to start at left guard. The Bears would rather not tinker with the O-line — the tackles appear to be set with J'Marcus Webb on the left side and rookie Gabe Carimi on the right — but we wouldn't rule out seeing some moving pieces on the interior before the season opener against the Falcons.
