The Cowboys have had to shuffle along their offensive line more than at any other position, but they are managing as best they can with the players they have. One real bright spot to date has been the play of ORT Tyron Smith, who had a positive opener against the Broncos and has settled in nicely with the first team. The move of Kyle Kosier from left to right guard clearly was done to protect and help Smith with Montrae Holland out, just in case the team has to move forward with impressive rookie David Arkin as the starting left guard. If the team must play two rookies right away, it wants to do its best to give them an experienced anchor beside them, as OLT Doug Free has been watching after Arkin at left guard. Arkin, a fourth-round pick, hasn't appeared out of his league despite making the jump from Missouri State and could handle a starting assignment if need be without drowning, the coaches believe.
