The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Chargers starting OLT Marcus McNeill has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and will miss the team's first two preseason games.
McNeill, 27, reportedly had been bothered by the knee through the offseason and the situation wasn't improving, so the procedure was performed to remove bone spurs.
Brandyn Dombrowski, who started five games in 2010 while McNeill held out in a contract dispute, will replace McNeill in the starting line up and serve as QB Philip Rivers' blind-side protector.
The way we see it
This doesn't sound like it will be a lingering issue for McNeill or the Chargers, and the two-time Pro Bowler should have plenty of time to prepare for the start of the regular season once he returns to action later this month.
