There was some thought that the Jets would add another outside linebacker, either in the draft or free agency. Even with the loss of Jason Taylor, the team stood pat, and that means the onus is heavy on the young backups. The way we hear it, the guys behind Calvin Pace and Bryan Thomas have been impressive in camp. Jamaal Westerman, a third-year pro who played in six games last season, and Garrett McIntyre, who played in the CFL the past two seasons, have both been wreaking havoc in training camp. Granted, they often are going against the Jets' second unit, but Rex Ryan singled out both players for their performances. McIntyre, who played defensive end in college and in the CFL, has not played in an NFL game, but from what we hear, his nonstop motor is alive and well at his new position. Westerman is quick and already has some game experience. The pair could make their mark as situational pass rushers and help the third-down defense.
