The Bears announced they waived QB Matt Gutierrez and RB Dan Dierking on Monday.

Both players were buried deep on the depth chart and were long shots to make the team. Gutierrez, a fourth-year veteran, previously spent time with the Patriots and Chiefs, appearing in six games, but the Bears will move forward with Caleb Hanie and rookie Nathan Enderle backing up Jay Cutler.

Dierking was signed last month as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue.
