The Patriots signed veteran DE Mark Anderson on Friday.
Anderson, a 2006 fifth-round draft pick of the Bears, played in four game for Chicago before being released on Oct. 5. He was signed a day later by the Texans. He appeared in 11 games, with two starts, for Houston in 2010.
Anderson has racked up 25.5 career sacks, seven passes defended, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. As a rookie, he racked up 12 sacks.
The Patriots also announced Friday that they have released first-year DL Marlon Favorite.
The way we see it
The Pats are kicking the tires on Anderson, who has yet to return to the form he had in his rookie season. Assuming the Patriots are going to utilize more 40-fronts this year, Anderson gives them a defensive end with experience in that scheme, something the current roster is lacking.
