The Panthers have reached an agreement with free agent WR Legedu Naanee, adding depth to a position that is low on experience. The San Diego Union-Tribune reported the agreement, and the receiver tweeted the news on Thursday afternoon, writing "Heading (to) Charlotte, can't wait to meet my new teammates and get to work! #Panthers."

Naanee played for the Chargers last season, the same team current Panther head coach Ron Rivera and offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski worked for as well. That familiarity with the offensive system is likely a reason the receiver wanted to head to Carolina.

The way we see it

The Chargers made no effort in re-signing Naanee after he caught just 23 passes in 10 games last season. In Carolina, he will likely have to make an impact on special teams, as the Panthers are committed to playing their young wide receivers along with veteran Steve Smith.

According to The Union-Tribune, Naanee was arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest in Indianapolis in February.
