The Cowboys added a new safety, signing Abram Elam, ESPNDallas.com reported.

Elam got a one-year, $2.5 million contract. Dallas re-signed S Gerald Sensabaugh earlier in the week.

Elam, a sixth-year veteran, spent the past two seasons with the Browns. In 2010, he played in all 16 games notching career-highs in passes defensed (10) and interceptions (two).

His defensive coordinator in Cleveland, Rob Ryan, now holds the same title in Dallas.
