Of all the shocks to the system that once again have become common occurrences for daily team observers of the Pete Carroll regime, one of the most shocking has to be the reincarnation of Leroy Hill as the team's projected starter at weak-side linebacker. "I would have said there's no way he would be back," one team insider said of Hill, widely considered a lock to be released after becoming a virtual nonfactor on the field because of repeated injuries and running into problems off the field. "But with (Lofa) Tatupu getting released and (top reserve LB Will) Herring signing with the Saints, it looks like he will get the first shot at being the guy (on the weak side). He's very hungry to jump-start his career and feels like he has a lot to prove." Hill replaces David Hawthorne, who moves inside to replace Tatupu — which Hawthorne did exceptionally well two seasons ago after Tatupu suffered a season-ending shoulder injury.
