Osi Umenyiora's opportunity to find a new team has apparently ended, just days after it began.
According to Mike Garafolo of The New Jersey Star-Ledger, the Giants have informed the defensive end that he is no longer allowed to find a trading partner for his services. Once it was determined that Umenyiora and agent Tony Agnone could not find a team willing to deal a first-round pick, the Giants told the pair that they could no longer work out a trade.
Umenyiora is set to earn $7.1 million combined the next two seasons and he is looking for a long-term contract. He claims the Giants promised him that his deal would be restructured, but that has yet to take place.
