Eagles DT Mike Patterson collapsed during a lineman drill Wednesday morning at the team's practice at Lehigh University and went into convulsions.
He was immediately attended to by trainers and team staff and an ambulance arrived on the scene. He was hooked up to an IV and loaded into the ambulance on a stretcher. He appeared to have movement in his arms and legs. He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital. Dehydration is believed to be the cause of the incident.
Patterson was alert, stable and joking at the hospital after suffering the seizure, according to Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder. The Eagles' official website reported via Twitter that Patterson sent a text message that read, "I'm cool" to assistant trainer Chris Peduzzi.
He underwent tests to determine why he had a seizure at the hospital Wednesday.
The 6-1, 300-pound USC product is entering his seventh season with the Eagles. He had 37 tackles and two sacks in 15 games last season, with 14 starts.
