The Browns signed P Richmond McGee and placed P Reggie Hodges on injured reserve Wednesday.

McGee, 27, has never punted in an NFL game. The Bears, who signed Adam Podlesh from Jacksonville in free agency, released McGee on Monday.

Hodges suffered a torn Achilles tendon in practice Tuesday. Hodges' net average of 39.0 yards in 2010 was a career-high.

Also on Wednesday, the Browns signed undrafted free-agent LBs Archie Donald and Eric Gordon and waived undrafted free-agent LBs Derrick Addai and Alex Wujciak.

The way we see it

New Browns special teams coordinator Chris Tabor is familiar with McGee, having served as Chicago's assistant special teams coach from 2007-09. McGee spent parts of 2009 and '10 with Chicago.
