A week after losing C David Baas in free agency to the Giants, the 49ers found his replacement, reaching a three-year deal with C Jonathan Goodwin.
Goodwin was one of the top offensive linemen remaining on the free-agent market. He played the past five seasons with the Saints, helping them win the Super Bowl following the 2009 season. At 32, he has plenty of knowledge and experience, but no longer possesses the quickness of his youth.
San Francisco also reportedly reached a deal with LB Blake Costanzo, primarily a special-teams player the past two seasons with the Browns.
