The Browns and former Eagles CB Dimitri Patterson have agreed on a contract, NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported Tuesday.

Patterson, 28, played in 16 games (nine starts) and intercepted four passes for Philadelphia in 2010. It's likely he'll contend to be one of the Browns' top reserve cornerbacks behind starters Joe Haden and Sheldon Brown.

The way we see it

The addition of Patterson improves the Browns' CB depth, which took a hit when Eric Wright signed with Detroit. Patterson is yet another ex-Eagle added by general manager Tom Heckert, who was Philadelphia's GM from 2006-09.

Patterson struggled as a starter last season, as teams usually elected to go after him rather than challenge Asante Samuel. Patterson could be better suited as a reserve and special-teams player.
