The Giants have given DE Osi Umenyiora permission to seek a trade, ESPN's Sal Palantonio reported Monday.

According to Palantonio's report, the Giants are seeking a first-round pick for Umenyiora.

Umenyiora, 29, notched 11½ sacks last season and started all 16 games. He has been dissatisfied with his contract, which is entering his final season, and his relationship with Giants GM Jerry Reese is reportedly strained. Umenyiora did report to Giants camp over the weekend, but that did not change his desire for a trade.
