The Jets have agreed to re-sign UFA CB Antonio Cromartie, multiple media outlets reported Monday morning.

The contract is reportedly worth $32 million over four years.

Cromartie, 27, intercepted three passes last season. The Jets were one of the suitors for UFA Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha, but he signed with Philadelphia. Instead, they retained Cromartie, who will again team with Darrelle Revis.

According to ESPN's John Clayton, veteran RB LaDainian Tomlinson took a pay cut, which brought his salary for 2011 from $2.625 million down to $1.1 million. The extra cap room likely helped the Jets while re-signing Cromartie or Santonio Holmes.

Cromartie was the highest-rated unrestricted free agent on PFW's top 100 list without a contract agreement (No. 11).

The way we see it

Rex Ryan, Mike Tannenbaum and company had to make nice with Cromartie after making it no secret they wanted Asomugha. Cromartie and Revis still make up one of, if not the, league's top cornerback duo, and after Holmes he was the team's No. 2 priority in free agency. With Cromartie, as opposed to a free-agent addition at corner, the Jets should again be consisdered a favorite in the AFC.
