There's a new linebacker on the free-agent market, as the Seahawks and MLB Lofa Tatupu have parted ways. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Tatupu would not accept a reduction from his $4.3 million salary.
Tatupu has been the Seahawks' defensive captain for each of the last four seasons. He had arthroscopic surgery on both knees in January.
Tatupu recorded 88 tackles and eight passes defensed last season. He also had returned an interception for a touchdown.
The way we see it
The Seahawks re-signed Leroy Hill and also have David Hawthorne, who played well when Tatupu was hurt in 2009. This also brings another inside 'backer to the market for teams in need of one.
