With a host of free agents to re-sign, and not a whole lot of salary-cap space with which to work, we knew several Jets from '10 would not be with the Gang Green in '11. The team hopes it has Braylon Edwards' replacement in Plaxico Burress, who has not played since 2008. Special-teams coordinator Mike Westhoff may have his work cut out for him replacing P Steve Weatherford and KR/gunner Brad Smith. Chris Bryan, a former Australian football player, will have a shot to replace Weatherford, but he is far from proven. Joe McKnight, who isn't expected to get many carries, could make his mark returning kicks. The Jets did re-sign special-teams contributor and S Eric Smith to a three-year deal. In the secondary, Drew Coleman's exit opens the door for Kyle Wilson to grab the No. 3 corner role. The team brought in CB Donald Strickland, a Jet in '09, to add more depth in the secondary and on special teams.
