The Patriots re-signed DB Brandon McGowan and LB Tracy White on Saturday, while releasing LB Anthony Leonard.
McGowan missed all of 2010 with a chest injury. In 2009, his first season in New England, he played in all 16 games and recorded 66 tackles and 10 passes defensed.
White, a nine-year veteran, finished second on the team last season with 18 special-teams tackles.
Leonard was a rookie free agent signed on July 27.
The way we see it
By bringing McGowan back, the team has even more depth in the secondary and he also contributes on special teams. FS Jarrad Page, who came in last year after McGowan got hurt, is still an unrestricted free agent, but may return. White was a special-teams standout, and the Patriots put a high value on special teams.
