Punter Steve Weatherford will continue working at New Meadowlands Stadium, but instead of wearing green and white, he'll sport blue and red.
The free agent announced on Friday he is signing with the Giants after kicking the last two seasons for the Jets. On his Twitter account, Weatherford wrote, "I'm on my way back to NYC but my helmet has changed. I'm excited to get the opportunity to help this prestigious franchise win a world title." He added a few minutes later, "Very blessed to help carry on a prestigious tradition in the greatest city in the world. New York Football Giants!!! Go Blue!!!"
Weatherford led the NFL in landing punts inside the 20-yard line in 2010 with 42; that included 20 kicks inside the 10 to only four touchbacks. He will compete with, and may eventually replace, the Giants incumbent punter Matt Dodge, who struggled last year.
