The Saints re-signed S Roman Harper to a four-year, $28 million deal. ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the move.

Harper will get $16 million in guarantees.

The 2006 second-round draft pick had 98 tackles, three sacks, one interception and six forced fumbles last season.

Harper told PFW this summer that he wanted to re-sign with the Saints, but he was not interested in a hometown discount.

The way we see it

The Saints certainly wanted to hold on to Harper, who made the Pro Bowl last season. He's yet another key re-signing by the team, a list that includes OLT Jermon Bushrod and WR Lance Moore.
