The Giants welcomed one former player back for a meeting on Friday, while a current key player did not show up.

WR Plaxico Burress met with head coach Tom Coughlin, GM Jerry Reese and likely owner John Mara on Friday night at the team facility when free agents were allowed to do so. Burress hasn't played since 2008 and spent 20 months in a correctional facility on a weapons charge.

Burress caught the game-winning touchdown in the Giants' Super Bowl XLII win vs. New England.

"We wouldn't bring him in here just for fun," Reese said on ESPN New York 1050, according to ESPN New York.

"Tom and Plaxico, they'll talk it out. If it is a good conversation, if they think they can co-exist, then we will move forward with the process," Reese added, according to ESPN New York.

On the other side of things, DE Osi Umenyiora did not show up for training camp on Friday. He was placed on the team's reserve/did not report list. Reese said he would not take any questions about Umenyiora.

Umenyiora claimed in June that Reese lied to him about his contract, a six-year, $41 million deal he signed in 2005. Umenyiora started 16 games last season, recording 11½ sacks.
